I believe strongly there is something amiss with Purepac's .5mg tablets. But _not_ their 1mg tablets.
I believe this for a number of reasons.
1) I was on Purepac's 1mg tablet a couple of years ago and it was extremely effective and potent. I just had to take one 1mg tablet once a day (for about three months) and it worked just fine. It lessened my anxiety by and extraordinary extent and made me sleep very well. I stopped taking it about a year and a few months ago.
2) A few weeks ago I was on Purepac clonazepam once again. However, this time I was on their .5mg tablets instead of their 1mg tablets. I was on one .5mg tablet three times a day. But it was not effective! Even though I was on a whole .5mgs more than I was on a couple of years ago, it was not potent at all! In fact, these .5mg tablets a)worsened my anxiety b)made my sleep worse and c)gave me apathy. And these tablets were by the same company.
3) The last reason I believe the .5mg Purepac tablets are, frankly, sh*t: after scouring the internet looking up stories of people having difficulty with Purepac clonazepam potency, many of them mentioned one thing: the tablet they were taking at the time was pink. Purepac's .5mg tablets was and are _pink_. Pink baby, pink.
Thus, concerning Purepac at least, I do _not_ believe that it is the dosage that matters but the _form_ of the pill you are taking by them (Purepac).

My pdoc just prescribed Clonazepam .5mg, and so I haven't started taking it yet. I logged into babble to see what anyone else's experience was.

Hi Phillipa,
I have no choice over pharmacy, but I am going to ask the pharmacist which company the clonazepam is manufactured by. Even though it'll cost more I hope it's the brandname. I've never been on it and feel like an experiment as it is.

I have been taking Purpac .5 for a long time. CVS just opened around the corner and they carry Teva. I will get my next refill in a weeek and report if I notice a difference. The score on Purpac is worthless. Have to bite them in half (if needed).

Not sure I am looking for extra strength. There are variations on effect. On a trip through 5 countries I picked up 5 different types of Alprazolam (prescribsion bottle only thing reqired). Each affected me slightly differently. It was a curiosity experiment. I then bought actual Xanax and it was not my first choice. Denver Pharma was the most appealing with the second being something marketed in Peru as Sedicipan but clearly ingrediants were Alprazolam. The real Zanax came in third with Gator fourth. The other I threw out after a few tries and cant remember the name. Right before customs I tossed them and only kept Xanax in bottle. Only use 1/4 mG week if I wake up early. So looking forward to Teva if for no other reason than you can break them in half but am hoping the efect is superior.
The prices were the surprising thing. No scipt and 30 .5 mg around $12. 60 Xanax were around 45 dollars at most expensive hotel pharmacy in SA.

Bite! Yikes. I've had no problem with the score on those if you hit it right although you're right, it is possible to destroy one -- although scoring on generic benzodiazepines (which is like 95% of the market) varies a lot. There is a pill splitter you can find at Longs and some other places, not to mention online :
Its a blue cutter with a very sharp razor blade. I've had excellent results with this one... and there are other ones on the market as well. A good pill splitter is a good investment for medicine taking.

With practice i have a split down pretty well. The score split works sometimes (pharmacist read directions. Said simple score side down. Asked for demo and he was unable to break it. No big deal. More interested in the quality of Teva. Not looking for extra strenght. My Xanax experiment made it clear that effects are different by manufacturers. I suspect Teva uses better ingredients and they cost a bit more. So HMOs insist on Purepac to save money. Wendys and Outback both serve beef. It is not a major concern to me. i am doing fine on purepak. Just responding to the comments about thier superiority. I only split at work. Very discretly able to bite one in half in quick motion. Dont want to explain pill cutter to anyone. To lazy to do it at home and I tend to lose half tabs easier. I will let you know next week, Suspect it is minor difference but worth a shot. I love this board but realize that it is all anecdotal. Read enough here and you pick up trends that often times confirm my suspicions.

Picked up the Teva today. After some time on the purepak I was curious to see if there was any difference. Some on the board indicated its stronger. First plus is pills are softer and easier to break which I do on occasion. Took One (.5mg)5 hours ago and noticed subtle differnce in the way it felt. A few hrs later I developed a slight headache which I never got with Purepak. I know med induced headaches v stress etc. A couple of hours later I realized that I felt more a bitmore sadated which has not happened with purepak in a long time. My conclusion is that either it is stronger or the compound is different. It will take a day or two to tell.

I have been taking the Teva now for 3 days. Different and more effective. Purepak Xanax seemed as good as any. Thanks for the heads up to those that brought this to the boards attention. I was not looking for a stronger med. Otherwise might as well just up the daily dose. Different compounds seem to work better. The Teva seems clearly superior.
