In 2003 twelve patients with parkinson's disease were given a harmless strain of the herpes virus, which carried a precursor to GABA into the body. This causes higher levels of GABA in the brain for extended periods. In the 2005 follow up, scientists following the progress of the patients noted a 27% decrease in severe PD symptoms.

Ya, but is that 27% worth the unknown risks? There are proper and powerful anti-anxiety drugs that work out there, but too many doctors are just too prejudiced to prescribe them.
