Hi,
My pdoc started me up on Wellbutrin again. I took Wellbutrin XL 150 mg 2 years ago and quit bc I started getting panic attacks and flashes of light...according to my records. I couldn't remember the light flash part. So she put me on Wellbutrin generic because I am now on 100 mg of Lamictal(for bipolar) and she thought this combo might help. This is only the 3rd day of 25 mg of Wellbutrin a day and this morning had a explosion of light in my brain. Had awaken and was in that snooze mode of sleep. All of a sudden it was as if 6 lightbulbs in a row just blew up. It was like when you turn on a light and it pops when it burns out. Explosion of white light and than bright yellow light in darkness. I don't know if I heard a sound or not. Woke me up for sure and could not go back to sleep. Felt it in my brain. Felt a slight headache coming on but went away. These are only symptoms I had with it. I than remembered vaguely the light flashes from before when I had taken it. I don't remember the flashes of light being this strong though. It has improved my depression some but has increased anxiety. I have tried many meds but am super sensitive to most of them. Especially SSRI's. I had to split the 25 mg of Wellbutrin in half and take it in AM and PM to avoid extreme dry mouth.
I wanted to ask here first for input so that I am prepared when I call my pdoc.
I don't want to be paranoid but I don't want to take it again until I know it is OK to do so.
Any help or experiences would be much appreciated.
Thank you for reading

If it were me experiencing some dramatic thing like that going on in my brain, especially at such a low dose, there is no way in the world I would take any more of whatever med was doing it. Just my opinion though. I would call my doc and tell him/her I can't do this med.

Wellbutrin made me psychotic ... twice. I had visual hallucinations and auditory ones. I have heard of other people having the same problem.
You aren't alone, but you obviously can't take this med. :-(

I haven't taken any since. I will call her today and tell her about it. Another thirty dollars of unused meds.
