Lamictal dose?

Posted by fires on February 5, 2006, at 20:18:52

I'm taking 400 mg of Lam along with 300 mg of Wellbutrin.

I'm wondering if anyone has a rough idea of what % of BPs take 200 mg, 300 mg, or 400 mg?

I'm thinking that 300 mg might be better for me.

Also, when reducing dose from 400 to 300 mg, can I do it by 100 mgs? On the way up i went 300 - 350 - 400 mg.

The waters are getting muddier and I'm very concerned:

- How I feel at 8AM is no indication of how I will feel at Noon, and how I feel at noon doesn't have anything to do with how I may feel at 6PM, etc... bedtime... the next AM. Very weird.

- I have no clue what's going on except that I suspect Lamictal(too high of a dose) may be involved.

- I have the same sensation that I had when on too much Effexor: sensation that there's something in my upper eyes and/or my eye muscles above eyes are "tight".

Seems no one here has any idea of what I'm talking about, which concerns me even more.

I'm only taking 100 and it's doing me no good, my pdoc told me that 200 was the minimum effective for bipolar, but I stopped going. Not helpful to you, I know

---With Lamictal I understand you must go slow, up and down. Like 25 at a time for a week or two. I know this is a couple of days late, but it is all I have to offer.

thanks,

That is helpful. I thought 200 mg was considered the minimum. I'm down to 300 mg. Will hold there and see what happens.

I went real slow on the way up, but I remember my doc saying that you can change doses in larger steps as the dose increases. I dropped from 400 mg to 300 mg just the other day, and so far so good.

You might be interested to know that my neuro said that my chance of getting the rash is extremely remote -- given the length of time that I've been on Lamictal -- and the dose being high enough.

Thanks for the reply.
