I've worked my way since last week from 2.5 twice a day to today took the 20 this morning and suppose to take another later today. I feel the depression under the adderall and feel kinda yucky. does adderall help depression? I have not felt good on it as some people say. I'm so disgusted with med after med.

Hello...
I have no experience with Adderall...but do with it's relative, dextroamphetamine. I hear what you are saying..as I have been on nearly the same meds and doses you have. I am at a "stuck" point myself, and don't really know where to go. You are certainly not alone. I wish I could help more. :(

I lay in bed most days and I have no motivation I feel like a terrible person. The Guilt is terrible for not being super Mom and Great wife.
I'm 44 and feel like my life is over. I so envy people who don't have these problems. I can't kill myself because I'd hurt my family too much and place a burden on them. I'm so tired and still have so much life ahead of me. sorry to whine but I so want to be stable. Should I force myself no matter what to function? Crying all the time? Is that the answer? Even when I feel I can't stand up tell myself I can?
Thanks for responding.Rainee

I hear your pain and I do know how your feel. Even though our meds are different I feel the same way each day. I make myself get up each day, dress, wash hair, and go out at least once a day to even the grocery store although I don't want to go. I thinks it's therapeutic. Have you told your pdoc about this? Fondly, Phillipa

I would say haldol or mood stabilizer, and titrate down to 15mg max. 10mg is probably best. Maybe an NMDA antagonist?

I went through this exact same thing. When I started on Adderall XR, I started low, and then gradually increased to get more benefit. I increased until I was on too high a dose, and got so depressed I was suicidal - I have a lot of problems with meds. Anyway, cut the dose in 1/2 and it was perfect. I've needed slight adjustments here and there, but for the most part it's been very good overall.Adderall might not be the drug for you. I hear you that you feel really bad, and unfortunately it's pretty much trial and error I guess. Gotta trust your pdoc to help you work through it.
I hope you're feeling better,

Hi fairywings,
What dose of Adderall are you on now?
Although I did well on Dexedrine, I have never had much luck with Adderall. In fact, on Adderall, I became very withdrawn and depressed. Perhaps I "overshot" the dose. Have you ever taken Dexedrine? If so, how did your dosing of Dexedrine compare with your dosing of Adderall (in milligrams)?

Didn't take Dexedrine, so I don't know how doses would compare.
I went to 60 mg. XR, and got very depressed, cut it to 30, and that worked well.
Hope you find something that works, and doesn't make you depressed.
