Hi
>Is there any reason why they are discontinuing it?
....because so few people take it. It isn't available on the National Health Service so it's very rarely prescribed here. Diazepam (Valium) is the prefered benzo.
AFAIK, Tranxene is still available in the US. It's being discontinued in the UK. Don't know about anywhere else.

If you liked Tranxene you'd probably like Valium or Librium. Ever tried them? I believe you're on Klonopin at the moment.

I got tolerant to the effects of tranxene rather quickly so i had to get off it. My doc put me on klonopin and so far, i havent grown any tolerance to it whatsoever, is that common?

Hi K
>ive taken valium, but it never even touched my anxiety
Probably because the dose was too low. Diazepam (Valium) is metabolised to desmethyldiazepam in the liver. Clorazepate (Tranxene) is a pro-drug of desmethyldiazepam ie. it works because it's converted to desmethyldiazepam in the body.

Hi
>Tranxene quicker tolerance than klonopin?
It's difficult to say. I'm tempted to believe that clonazepam seems to work better mainly because it's more potent, and tends to be prescribed at comparatively high doses.

Some people find that they need to take up to 20mg diazepam (Valium) to replace 1mg clonazepam (Klonopin). Diazepam would seem ineffective unless the dose was adequate.

I took Tranxene at one point. It's a thrice daily drug with a noticeable short half life.
