Doc says ok Phentermine...

Posted by TrishP on January 12, 2006, at 19:00:05

I think we've finally hit upon something. When I told my doctor that Phentermine (a stimulant/diet pill) actually made my anxiety go away and my concentration and ability to focus so much better, he said to stay with it for a while. I don't take a huge dose. He said that a lot of people with ADHD do great on stimulants.

He said when the Phentermine poops out, we can look at other ADHD/stimulant meds.

I couldn't believe it. I figured he would make me stop taking the Phentermine and he would switch me to a true ADHD med.

Just be careful. I know phentermine is supposed to be one of the "safer" ones but it is very easy to develop tolerance. And then to start increasing the dose. I did that many, many years ago and it was a very bad scene. So don't increase the dose without your doc's okay.
