Klonopin, Valium, Keppra, Morphine, Soma Combo....

Posted by lunesta on December 16, 2005, at 19:40:30

pain, sleep, anxiety and depression. Isnt this a werid combo? I am tired now all the time. I want Provigil to wake me up.

Any experiences with this combo? I am using Keppra 500mg 2X daily, Diazepam 5mg 4X daily, Klonopin 2mg 3X daily, Ms Contin (sustain release) Morphine 30mg 2twice daily. For sleep, I use all those when needed and Rozerem 8mg nightly, doxepin 25mg nightly, nortriptiline 25 mg nightly, Soma 3x daily, Neurontinm 2400mg daily, Depakote ER 250mg 3x daily as needed and finally Vistril as needed.

I am not done either lol. I am prescribed Xyrem (GHB) which i do not like so i dont use it (thats for sleep) as Ambien CR 12.5mg nightly. I also have a bunch of Lunesta's which never worked. 3mg pills of those.

I have everything, but the main combo is above, What is everyone experiences with these for the above conditins?

Thanks
lunesta

You and Ame Sans Vie posts are similar.

I have taken Vicodin and Amphetamine before, it boosts the effect of both meds.

I have took vicodin with klonopin, it just makes you more sedated.

Morphine..... you do have a very credited drug resume ROFL. Never taken. Ms Countin yea, thats for bad pain. im just making a joke...

But Ame Sans Vie takes:
Xanax : 16mg DAILY
Desoxyn 60mg
Dexedrine 45mg
Xyrem 2.5
Tuinal (amobarbital and secobarbital) 200mg
Alurate (aprobarbital) 350mg
Prozac 40mg

and many others that i dont rerember, those where just the most shocking. I though he was making this up, but no, posts add up with each other.

Can you belive that?

ROFL

Take Care

Some people are fast metabolizers of medication, people's reaction to drug movement through the P450 system are also different, so dont be too quick to judge (although that amount of barbiturates sounds astounding). I won't say exactly how much Valium I take daily but the non-accustomed to benzodiazepines would probably be on a 6 beer trip. Thats not to say I dont take it lightly, I am very careful driving because of it.

cheers.

Hi J

>I won't say exactly how much Valium I take daily....

You won't? The most I've ever taken in a day is 60mg.

Well I have fairly good anonymousness on here and I don't abuse medication so I'll say.... Its an experiment by my doctor and myself both to replace Klonopin as a drug of choice for my complicated somatiform disorder which was at 8mg/day (yes, 8) -- and also there is literature that notes usage of Valium in psychotic disorders. I dont have a psychotic disorder.. one could call it pseudo-psychotic, but I'm perfectly sane and aware of the miserable static I see and the contrast changes in my psychiatric (not ocular) vision which has gotten much better but one could say is acutely managed, as I would say there is still 30-40% of it that isnt covered by anything.

So... add a 1 to the 60 and you get ...160.
10mg was about .5mg of klonopin for me. Other tables say different but my fast metabolization of it says otherwise. Its a staggering amount but its not really at the root cause of my fatigue -- the Seroquel at 900mg q.h.s. does that more.

Oh, and I have frequent physicals btw, in case you're wondering because of my polypharmacy, which reminds me I should be having one soon again. That's enough personal information I think :)

Hi J

You say that like I should be surprised! I'm not :)

>10mg was about .5mg of klonopin for me

That seems to be the most common ratio proposed.

Let me rephrase. I'm not at all surprised that you can tolerate 160mg diazepam. Some people can tolerate much more! The question is: how did you get your doc to prescribe 160mg?!

How do you like diazepam compared with clonazepam? Side effects versus benefits etc. Tell us more.

Kind regards

Ed

Very carefully and with due consideration to me and his medical practice. Definately less hair raising than (no offense) the Oxycontin experiment I've heard on here -- the DEA does watch medical licenses (but I'm not one to judge that one, maybe it had some value in that particular case). We may go back down in the future if I can stand reducing the Valium as much as I attempted to reduce the Klonopin before. Basically the idea was to taper over from Klonopin to Valium. It worked best when the Valium was introduced before removing the Klonopin. It was an experiment to see, at least on my part, whether it gave a more anxiolytic feeling.

As for prescribing standards and insurance... a certain unnamed insurance company that I have will allow an immense amount of Seroquel to be prescribed (seems like $ to me) but when it comes to the Cymbalta they're extremely stingy on an exact # of tablets per size, which makes dosage adjustment annoying. (I guess so they can get more copays). Benzodiazepines they don't seem to care much about (thankfully up to far) since generics are so cheap these days anyhow.

Side effects are very hard to tell when you are on a polypharmacy of 6 medications, most unrelated to each other, several not even psychiatric. I dont think it increased any more fatigue than the Klonopin but I can't be sure. I think Seroquel is still the fatigue culprit.

As for benefits... it covers at least the same amount of mm.. symptomatic events that the Klonopin would, perhaps a little bit more. It, at the beginning was more "immediate" gratifying than Klonopin. Now I would say it is more subtle, considering its 24+ hour half life far exceeds the typical 16 hour in vivo life of Klonopin. Still I would say even for that, there's just a pinch of less subtlety than Klonopin in terms of anxiety. Or that could be the placebo effect.. happens 33% of the time. So there's the long and short of it.

Hmmm. Strange.

>It, at the beginning was more "immediate" gratifying than Klonopin.

Diazepam tends to 'kick in' more quickly and abruptly after the initial dose.

Tidings!
