FUN THINGS TO DO WHEN CHANGING ANTI-D's (Or Not)

Posted by FrequentFryer on December 18, 2005, at 21:43:41

Hi All.
Unfortunatly Im gonna have to be be switching Meds over X-Mas :/ So Im trying to think of some good stuff to do to keep me from going insane, and thought I would post all my usuall techniques so I can give something back to the community.
#################################################

MOVIES: Probably the best. A good movie can take your mind off the negative thoughts & change your outlook on life. Be carefull though. Crap movies make me angry, and good ones are hard to find these days.

GOOD FOOD: Essential. If your skinny eat what you like. If you dont wanna gain fat I find oven cooked Potatoe Chips / Wedges / Fries good with Chicken salt & all the meats of the Animal Rainbow. (Go frozen for conveniance).

THE GYM / Exercise: I know its hard sometimes just to get out of bed let alone go to the gym, but if you don't plan on killing yourself You'll probably wanna look good and being fit is an advantage to. Also exercise elevates my mood slightly and gives you a feeling that you have atleast accomplished something during the day.

COMPUTER GAMES: Probably not for everyone
but have been good for me in the past.

RETAIL THERAPY: If you have the money... It cheers me up a bit..

ALCOHOL + BENZODIAZAPINES: {WARNING - THIS ONE IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WITH GOOD SELF CONTROLL DISCIPLIN, WILL POWER & MAYBE STILL NOT EVERYONE ELSE.}
These two substances on their own don't do much for me when not on meds. But a mild dose of both can be a quite nice and reliable escape from boredom / anxiety.
If its your first time try 3 to 5 standard drinks then take your perscribed dosage of benzo (maybe a little extra.)
This combo will even eliminate most peoples Social Phobia for a while so it might be a good time to call a friend. If you dont have any friends or their busy thats ok. Go lay in the sun for a while. If theres no sun, listen to some music.
Also I wouldn't recommend doing this more then 2 or 3 times a week. Im 95% sure it won't hurt your AntiD's Onset of action. (Some people may disagree.) But any more then 3 times a week could temporarily give you or make worse symptoms of anhedonia and motivation.

LOW DOSE SEROQUEL: Try 50mg to put your *ss to sleep and keep it that way.

Thats all I can think of for now. If you have any please share. I dont think its to good to be just staring at the wall 24/7.

I agree but no computer games and stopped drinking wish I could. I too will probably be changing meds new pdoc on Thursday. You can babblemail me anytime and we'll eschange E-mails. I find the computer my best ally going through hard times with meds. The support and keeps me busy. Fondly, Phillipa

1 mg Atavin as needed does it for me. Alcohol makes everything worse for me.

Alcohol and Klonopin=disaster for me. I don't advise messing with the benzo alcohol combo. The other stuff sounds fun. That and perhaps soaking in a hot springs, getting a massage somewhere.

My two cents:

2 beers, 1 joint and .5mg klonopin, then go sit in the hot tub and listen to some 80s music.

Good luck!

Colleen

Okay, I'll pass on the beer, but do a joint, sit in the hot tub, 80's music's great (that or blues), for sure the klonopin, and hopefully be soaking it up with someone thats a great kisser!

THAT WOULD BE ME - LOL! (nm) » RobertDavid
