I have not been able to sleep all week and feel very restless since my doc had me increase my Risperdal from 2mg to 4mg. I am also on Wellbutrin. I think I might have akathasia.
I am going to see the doc tomorrow. But can anyone tell me if this will go away? Will reducing the dosage make this go away? When will I be able to sleep well again?

Maybe it's the wellbutrin it increases energy. And for some it produces way too much. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi,I didn't have any trouble falling asleep while on Risperdal but I kept waking up earlier and earlier. I was only on it a couple of weeks and at a very low dose (.25 mg) and by the end of two weeks, I was only getting 5 hours of sleep a night. When I stopped it, things normalized. It also made my teeth very sore.
Also, Wellbutrin in itself caused insomnia for me (the early waking kind).

Well, the doc said the sleeplessness is a symptom of the disease, not a side effect of the medication and I don't believe her, although I am able to sleep better now, I am still having a bad reaction to the medications - feeling nervousness, restlessness. Hopefully I'll change the meds again this week and have a better result.
This is the end of the thread.
