my pdoc put me on lamictal for 2 weeks 25, 3 and 4 weeks at 50mg, and 5 at 100. he told me that one of the side effects is a rash and very rarely steven johnsons syndrome. i am really scarred to take it i am taking it as a mood stablizer for psychotic depression. i also take abilify and klonopin. any suggestions

The rash is a very rare side effect if you follow the dosing instructions. Many people have had good luck w/ Lamictal. It usually has few side effects and is "weight neutral."
I think it is worth a try. Try to trust your doc that this could help you. Babblers are here to support you. It can be a wonderful med if it works for you.

if you taper up, and if you stop if you start to itch (i started itching around my belly first) you won't get very sick. plus you can try taking benadryl to alleviate the rash. (if benadryl doesn't help it probably is SJS, so call your pdoc immediately.)
i loved lamictal when i was on it. the benefits were worth the rash risk. but i was one of the unlucky few who got it.

This is a common titration schedule for Lamictal.
Just curious, do you take your Abilify in the morning or at night?

i take abilify in the morning. i am seriously thinking about taking lamictal because i do not want that to be a side effect of a rash. i need another mood stabilizer without those effects. any suggestions. not depakote because of constant watch of the liver. i had a liver test and it was great the pdoc told me. he gave me some lamictal samples today but i do not want to take it. how do i tell him i dont feel comfortable taking this. i need to tell him. what about keppra

It's worth a try. I once took it and the only reason I stopped it was to try something different which was a mistake.
