it works pretty well. If you're on it for a while, and you get stabilized, there's even a once-a-day formula...Tranxene Tab or something. That makes dosing much easier.

Some people have problems with worsening or developing depression on Tranxene. Its not too common, but it does happen and it can be pretty bad so...watch out for that.

Its a benzo, so its good stuff for panic attacks/social phobia, etc. etc.

Hi Tep
Tranxene will be a piece of cake compared to Tolvon. It might not help you *that* much and you might become dependant on it but at least it feels OK. I've not taken Tolvon but have taken mirtazepine and didn't like it.

Why you didn´t like Mirtazapine Dec? How was your experience on this drug?

Hi Tep
Mirtazepine was great for sleep but once I was awake I hated it. And I wondered what it was doing to my gut because I felt a bit odd there and I had a bit of a headache, not much though. It felt like a heavy drug that was unlikely to do me much good.

I was originally recommended Oxazepam- (Serapax)-10 years ago, i wish i'd taken it, instead of the psychic (cure all)-Prozac, at the time.

Tranzene-(Oxzazepam) is a weaker benzodiazepine, related to the Valium(R) family.

I have an anxiety, disioder, and was recommended Serepax-(Serepax) over 10 years ago. I took another path.

Serapax (Oxzezepam) is a safe and effective medicine, when given, and taken in medical condications.

Anxiety disordies distroy lives, hence why agressive and continual treatment, MUST be put into place-if the suffarer is to receive aqaquate treatment!!!

Cheers

Hello,
I was on tranxene for over 10 years and weaned off last spring. I have anxiety/depression.

I was originally on 15-mg and then reduced to 7.5-mg after 6 years or so. After a bout of pnuemonia in 2001 I started to go downhill. After a few years of trying different meds I came to the conclusion that maybe my meds were causing problems. Much to my chagrin I discovered that the tranxene was making me depressed. By this time the docs had me on 22.5-mg and added 15-mg remeron to my 50-mg of nortryptline and my 600-mg of lithium.

I first weaned down to 7.5-mg of tranxene and the cut that in half. I was severely depressed for two weeks. When I went off the 3.75-mg I was horrible for one month. Then, the fogged cleared and I felt much better than I had in years.

So, would I recommend tranxene? No, I wouldn't unless you carefully monitor yourself so that you stop if you have impaired thinking like I did. I did manage to complete grad school while on the med, but I am amazed that I did it. Plus, it defintely made me depressed and numb. Good luck

I was on Tranxene for 10 years

I took Tranxene (clorazepate dipotassium) for 10 years. It's nothing unique. It's just one of the active metabolites of diazepam (Valium), which is nordiazepam or more specifically desmethyldiazepam. Valium is broken down into 3 active metabolites: oxazepam, temazepam (both short-acting) and desmethyldiazepam (which is long-acting and is basically "Tranxene").

It's very long-acting and should have similar side effects with Valium, although I found Valium to be more rapid-acting.

I was on 7.5mg 4x/day (sometimes 3.75mg 3-4x/day.
It was good for panic attacks, but Valium was the best in my experience.
