does anyone exp this on mood stabelizers?

This is prob. strange, but when I *dont take my lamictal and trileptal (i take them at night) but if i forget, then i sleep like a rock, almost to the point of a coma. its kinda scary. but when i take them, i sleep fairly normal..does anyone know why this would be???

I dont know about trileptal, but lamictal can be a little bit stimulating...it might be reducing REM sleep a bit or otherwise mildly stimulating you. Then, when you don't take it, I imagine you'd get some sort of mild rebound effect that could show up as changes in sleep. Just a thought.

Since I stopped taking trileptal I notice I'm sleeping better. Fondly, Phillipa

OK..come to think of it...when I was on a high-ish (1200mgs/day) dose of trileptal, and having really bad insomnia, my shrink kept asking me if it had been a long-term problem, or if it popped up on trileptal. Maybe the anticonvulsants mess with sleep?
