The first night I tried it, I slept very well and I seemed to "fall" asleep rather than just being knocked out. That was on 8mg's. Due to other med changes which have been aggravating my insomnia, I took 24mgs Rozerem and 600mg's Seroquel the other night and still had a lousy, restless night of insomnia. But I was impressed with the initial Rozerem night at the speed of onset and the more "natural" feel of the med. I took it because I cannot tolerate the Lunesta taste. That alone would keep me up. I'd say it's worth a shot if you haven't tried it. Your doc should have samples, so it couldn't hurt trying. I think I was less hungover after the Rozerem night's sleep than I usually am with high-dose Seroquel. Good luck...

Ambien wans't that consistent for me. I had to keep upping the dose. My former doctor, who is otherwise up for anything, surprisingly didn't want me to take ambien regularly because of the potential for "dependency". This sounds ridiculous I know, but perhaps there was another reason I can't recall which prevented Ambien from becoming a main-line sleep med for me. Throughout my four hellish years of college, I mostly took klonapin to sleep, and often didn't need sleep meds. I've taken Seroquel every night for two years probably. It works every time. Depending on my med cocktail, I've needed as little as 25mg's, and as much as 1000mgs. But I'll ask my new doctor about the ambien, if it might give me a more "natural" sleep and leave me less hungover. I also wake up increadibly stiff and sore every morning, like I had run a marathon the day before.

I've started the Effexor 37.5 mg's (I've always done 7-day MAOI washouts and have never had a problem). No side effects or noticeable changes. I was thankful not to get the terrible nausea, which brought me off the med immediately during the first trial. I'm really down right now, can't face life. I just want to go away. I'm going to knock myself out so I can drop into semi-oblivion and decieve myself into believing the impossible scenario that I'll wake up a changed man.

I'll be keeping a close eye on your Adrafinil trial- sounds interesting. Do you need a script to get it? With the $80 a week I have left over after bills etc., maybe I'll spring for some Adrafinil or SAM-e to add in with the Effexor. I just feel like such sh*t. God, sorry for such a long post to such a simple question. I've been doing my med journal, but I should do a personal journal as well so I can keep my babble posts more succinct.

Love Ya' Brotha',

Hi Matt :-)

>perhaps there was another reason I can't recall which prevented Ambien from becoming a main-line sleep med for me.....

The usual reason is that although zolpidem is frequently an effective med for initiating sleep, is often doesn't keep people asleep through the night. Ambien CR may be better in this respect, although I imagine that it's probably overpriced! I don't know that though, just guessing. Now Effexor is definitely overpriced!

Excellent. It probably won't benefit you for a while yet. When started at a high dose, Effexor is particularly effective in making people feel like they're gonna throw up. Low starting doses are better. Are you really having no side effects at all?

>Do you need a script to get it?

It's not marketed in the UK or the US. It's a French drug, people buy it from internet pharmacies. I didn't buy it though, a friend kindly sent me some through the post :-)

>I just feel like such sh*t.

Can I offer you a cyber-hug?

Love

My sleep problems have returned since switching from Lunesta to Rozerem. Personally, it seems no better than supplemental melatonin. I think you'll only benefit from this drug if you are deficient in melatonin.

Best of luck to everyone ... :-)
