non-congenital myotonic dystrophy (and testing)

Posted by iforgotmypassword on November 11, 2005, at 15:46:29

i was wondering if anyone knew of this illness causing trouble with paralysing lassitude. i am basically looking for anything to test for that could potentially be the answer. i have always been weak and have had trouble opening closing my hand after waking up in the morning, and now am wondering as i question people no one else seems to share the experience of near complete inability to make a fist in the morning. i am also often constipated as well (i know, gross, sorry)... my mum spent the good portion of her life in bed and now i'm following the same life pattern. they also mention facial weakness which could (longshot) be the cause of my progessive facial asymmetry and drooping rather than bell's palsy via lyme as it certainly isnt full paralysis. does anyone info on this subject?

is there any controversy over availability of proper testing as is the extreme case w/ lyme?
