wierd sweet taste in mouth, stays after brushing

Posted by iforgotmypassword on November 2, 2005, at 14:40:02

my dad notices strange breath as well. but it doesnt go away when i brush my teeth, it's like my mouth is secreting something... or something like that.

i haven't been very diligent on my personal hygiene but i don't have any soreness or sign of infection in there. i don't know what could be causing this but it's really gross.

I dont mean to scare you, but diabetes can cause strange breath smells. Are you unusually thirsty with a dry frothy mouth, urinate alot, extra tired? These are the most common signs. If you do, best see your doctor soon.

Many meds cause dry mouth which can lead to excess bacteria in the mouth and cause bad breath. Your doctor can give you a special mouth spray, or you can by them yourself.

IFMP, are you a bit young for diabetes and metabolic syndrome? When I went to my nutritional doctor he wanted to smell my breath (embarrassing) and diagnosed 'heavy bowel dysbiosis'. For which the treatment was no foods other than fresh or cooked fruit, vegetables, and protein. (Spirits permitted). And probiotics and low dose Nyastatin for at least a year, maybe longer.

oh god. wow. do you also get the sweet taste in your mouth? and he has you takin nystatin? is this another yeast thing? and he's an MD? wow. maybe i should see if i can find a doctor like him... unfortunately in canada, it's extremely difficult to get to see any doctors now it seems. or at least in ontario, we really seem to becoming a wasteland, the situation isnt getting any better. my GP's office is completely overwhelmed, it seems. :(

Hi Password
No, I don't get a sweet taste in my mouth, although at times I've had bitter tastes and metallic ones.
Nystatin kills yeast, especially if you refrain from eating sugars and refined carbohydrates.
Yes, he's an MD, runs a postgrad course in nutritional medicine for doctors and sees patients as well. It costs (of course) but I've learned a bit about what's good for me and some of it I can now do on my own.
As for the wasteland thing, it's everywhere now and I hope it doesn't get any worse. Survival of the fittest.

that's really impressive, i didn't know there was much MD backing when it came to yeast overgrowth. does he ever use any conclusive testing that is surefire in determining whether someone has a yeast problem.

but ugh. yes, survival of the fittest. :( only in this time and part world the lack of survival doesn't seem to kill so much, rather leaves someone terminally isolated, powerless and demoralized, alienated from society as its own punishment that you could name "pyschosocial solitary confinement" if that made any sense at all.

am i being ideological again?
