Hi Folks,
I'm new here. I'm also fairly new to Effexor (150mg for the past 4 months.) I'm happy with the results, however, I'm not so happy about the exhaustion I'm feeling. I used to take my dosage in the mornings (to combat the insomnia/restlessness) and now I take it at night. I'm sooooo tired all the time. Does anyone take their dosage in the middle of the day? Does anyone have any suggestions? (I drink plenty of coffee in the morning but don't after 3pm or I'll be awake all night.)
Thanks,
JenJenJen

Hi JenIf I were you I'd watch my caffein intake. Caffein gives me 'extreme' exaustion in the long term. I try not to touch the stuff now. It's best to not drink it at all, only then can you reassess why you might be so fatigued, if you still are.
Well thats just my opinion. But it comes from experience.
Of course Efexor fatigue is fairly common so it could be just the med. It might even help to increase the dose because efexor's noradrenalin effect becomes more pronounced in higher doses. You can go pretty high with efexor. I've read of doses well over the 375mg 'limit'. Wellbutrin can be added too which can produce a real 'boost'! Of course talk to your doctor first.
Well I hope you find some energy soon. Lack of energy is a big problem of mine too so I know what its like.
Regards,
teck.

Hi there!
When I was taking Effexor alone, I found it very activating. It was so activating I had to add a TCA (doxepin) so I could sleep soundly through the night. At that time I was taking 150mg and I found that the best thing for me was to take it at NOON every day. I agree with tecknohed, you might want to step it up to 225mg and see if you have less fatigue. I believe that 150mg is considered the lowest therapeutic dosage.
Good luck!
p.s. - I'm going on my 2nd year of Effexor and have had very good results with it. I also take clonazepam for anxiety.

Hi Teck,
Thanks for the advice, I will definitely ask about the Wellbutrin and increase of Effexor...
As for my caffeine intake, I only drink around 1-to-2 cups in the morning. Every now and then I drink a diet coke, but I mostly drink water (4-5 Liters a day!) So...I'll try to cut back but I know I'm addicted...
Thanks again!

Thank you Colleen! I appreciate the advice. Maybe noon will work for me as well? I will ask the pdoc...Do you mind me asking what's your dosage?
I had that same activated/restless feeling at bedtime, but right after work (6:30pm) I am so exhausted all I want to do is sleep!!! (Energetic when I don't want it or need it, and exhausted when I need the energy!!!)
Thanks again and glad Effexor is working out for you!

You're welcome! I started taking a 2nd 150mg cap tonight, so a total of 300mg is what I'm going to give a trial. I'm lacking energy lately, and more apt to become overly emotional and anxious, so I'm hoping this works. The highest I've been prior to this was 225mg, before I added clonazepam.
