besides "jaw-clenching - ear-ringing - apathetic feeling - orgasm loss" side effects of Effexor has anyone had head and facial sweating? Not to mention "anxious" chest pain. I'm wondering if the side effects of the drug are worse than the condition it is meant to alleviate?

ANd what's really weird, Effexor helped with hot flashes. Seems paradoxical, doesn't it? Causes sweating, stops sweating.

I wasn't sure whether it was a side effect or a symptom of w/drawal since venlafaxine has such a short half-life. (Wasn't on the XR.) With a combination of venlafaxine and an SSRI (sertraline or fluoxetine), I felt closer to "normal" than ever before.
BUT the w/drawal from the venlafaxine is horrible. Maybe I should have tried the XR, not sure if it was even available back then though. As a dose wore off, I'd get horrible cold-hot sweats, headaches, shakey, the list goes on. When I went off it, I decreased the dose VERY slowly and I was still a zombie.
A few years ago, someone was banned (or given a time-out or something) for saying venlafaxine was the devil. I'm not sure that would have happened if the decision-maker had had personal experience with the stuff.
Good luck with this.
