Hi. I emailed my pdoc and he said he can get Sulpiride for me from England. Has anyone taken it and what can you tell me about the side effects. I am afraid it's going to make me start to lactate like every other anti-psychotic I have been on. Is it expensive?
Thanks for your help.

I haven't tried sulpiride, but I have tried its close relative amisulpride. Excellent med at low doses for depression, anhedonia, social anxiety. Its effects can be felt the first day, but it really takes about a month for best results.
The problem I found with amisulpride is that it raises prolactin levels, causing sexual side effects and lack of sexual desire. So your concerns are probably well founded, but you may or may not have any problems with it. It's definitely worth a shot.
If it doesn't work out, the good thing is that it doesn't have severe withdrawals like antidepressants do. When I stopped taking it cold turkey, I felt some mild depression and lethargy for a couple days but that's all.

Thanks. I don't know what to do. I really don't. It sounds like a motivating med which is different from other neuroleptics I have tried. The others knock me out. But painful engorged breats is not something I can handle. *SCREAMS!*
I hate all of this so much. I want to be normal. I don't want to think about meds anymore. Why can't I have an other problem. Well I do, but still.Maxime

Hey Maxime
Although Sulpiride and Amisulpride are related they are not the same med.
They both have there fans, but I think Sulpiride is supposed to be more calming and sedating than Amisulpride.
There are people who absolutely swear by SulpirideIf raised Prolactin levels are the problem then perhapse adding a Prolactin lowing med like Bromocriptine might be the solution.
I don't know just a thoughtI should also say that low dose Amisulpride did absolutely nothing for me, when I tried it.
I've never tried SulpirideMaybe your Pdoc could order both for you?

What was your Amisulpride dosage?
If i have understood well, it begin to work the first day, than fade, than re-start to work in about a month?
Didn't try to augment the daily dosage?
Thank you.

Bromocriptine - THAT'S IT! I couldn't remember the name. I am sure my doctor would prescribe it for me. I just have to wait for the meds to arrive from UK.
BUT THANK YOU for the name of that med. I couldn't remember the name.

Can you tell me what the other problem is? Are you returning to my MS? It certainly contributes to my depression. Or are you refering to my anorexia? Because that is also contributing to my depression. My brain is depressed because of lack of food.
Phillipa big hugs for being so considerate as to not say what the problem is. That is very thoughtful of you. If it's another problem you are thinking about then I don't know what it is.
Hugs,
Maxie

Hi Maxie,
I wonder whether pramipexole would help your depression?
