Wellbutrin Hi-Low

Posted by mellymel_d on September 25, 2005, at 18:31:28

Well after 2 1/2 weeks on wb I'm still hanging in here. However, (there's always a but) the last couple of days I'm either on an extreme high or extreme low. Does this medicine have a mid day burn out? I take it first thing in the morning and then again around 4pm. By the time my 2nd dose is taken I'm SOOOO tired and burnt out feeling and if I take that dose any earlier I start to have anxiety. So it's lose, lose???

Has anybody experienced this? Any opinions on how to fix it? Does it go away?

I have the same problem, but I take 225mg of the SR (sustained release) version in the morning only. I get a flush of anxiety mid morning, then by mid-afternoon it's difficult to keep my eyes open..I'm so sleepy. My pdoc didn't prescribe an afternoon dose and I don't know why. Be careful though if your highs and lows are extreme -- it could be rapid cycling. Do you feel a little manic during the highs; do you talk too much and too fast? That happened to me on antidepressants without a mood stabilizer. I'm also on Depakote so that doesn't happen.

Take care.

I take 300 XR. The "Xteded Release" means that it is being released slowly throughout the day. I don't know what dosages they have in XR other than 300, but I think there are ones lower than 300. I like this one. A doc once told me that the XR is better for people with anxiety than SR- because the SR hits you too hard. Good luck! Love, SA

I have had the same effect. The 1st time i was on Wellbutrin it was twice daily and when the 1st one wore off i felt awful. Now i'm taking the XL and it is ongoing for 24 hours. I wld. explain how ur feeling and asked to be switched. They have 150 and 300 in XL. It seems more steady.Take care
