I am taking 225mg of effexor XR and 300mg of welbutrin XL followed with Wellbutrin ER 100mg at 1pm. How is this supposed to help- feel depressed as anything again, think about suicide all the time as well. The only thing it seems to do id get me up and active when I take it- I can't sit still and do one thing at a time but I can concentrate which is a reason my doctor told me he gave me this comb. He keeps on raising my dosages as well- how long will he do this before he can't raise it anymore. I have BPD and feel numb right now till I get sudden bursts of up or down emotion but a constant low buzz is where I live for the most part, thinking about living is too exhausting and letting myself think about suicide is too scary since I tried last december. I just want out of this funk and have truly given up on positive change but I do want a different funk instead of this one- please anyone help I feel like no one tells me anything about my options with medication I have been on lamictal, paxil, zoloft, now Effexor and Wellbutrin I am so confussed and lost help

Sorry I don't have any information.Just that you may want to do a google search on Dr. Bob on this combo. It seems to be really popular. Fondly, Phillipa

gosh - that sounds heinous. all i know is that 11 years ago i was on prozac - they kept upping my dose - added buspar - upping that too - i felt nothing - no better- actually dont even remember why i was on anything in the first place!! i felt like i was being sucked into the system - i stopped all on my own one night (not recommended) - became suicidal - had never been before- but after abt two weeks - and off all meds- felt better than ever before. just MO . have been med free since but now having panic - and thats a whole nother oprah. good luck

I hear you buddy.......I'm living the exact same way you are. My life has been a life of meds since the age of like 15. I'm now 29 and can't even fathom that my life will need to keep trucking along with med combo's the rest of my life. I too am exhausted with jumping from med to med. These doctors, even though may truly care about you, can't at all connect to what the hell were going through. Bouncing from one med to the next and making us play "Russian Roulette" everytime we try a new pill or pill combo. I've fallen so hard the last 2 years that I can't even explain it. I had a good ride of Effexor XR at 150MG daily and Depakote 2 500MG daily for about 5 years but then it suddenly pooped out and I've yet to find anything to bring me back to where I was on that combo. It of coarse had nasty side effects but I was at least a bit poised to live life to it's fullest. Well I just wanted to let you know buddy that you've got somebody right here in the same corner as you. I'm seriously thinking about going for ECT treatments. I mean why the hell not.......I've tried everything else and nothing else is currently working. The bottom line is that I will continue to keep marching along with hope to feel better in my very near future and I hope you do the same buddy. Take care of yourself!!!!!!!

>I am not 100% certain on this but if u have bipolar d/o, why wld any dr put u on an SSRI? I thought that cld make u feel much worse?. I will ask Nick about that one, he'll know. I take effexor xr and want to add wellbutrin but my dx is different. How long have u been taking these meds.? For BPD, that doesnt sound very common from people i know w/ that illness, even though the effexor and wellbutrin aren't in the specific SSRI category. I would search for as much info. urself re: BPD and see different meds.. If what u are on isnt working, tell ur doc but have some info gathered about other possibilities. I hope things work out and i will email Nick and have him reply tomorrow as he knows a LOT about BPD and other d/o's.
