My brothers and sisters.....
This is what has been happening recently......
at 60mg Nardil I feel OK....But then I jump it up to 105mg....within a day or two I am on the moonA!A! But then in a week a depression sets in and I have to lower again!
Whats going on here!!!!
I'm on seroquel 150
and xanax 2I'm thinking of adding remeron 15-30mg cause that worked good before
opinions please for the ace nardil man...ill be back soon on a regular basis- i have just found some chat sites and I'm chatting up chicks all day (when i should be studying, hja ha!!)

Hi Ace,
Be careful with the combination of phenelzine and mirtazapine. Since they stimulate serotonin by different processes, serotonin syndrome is a possibility.

I hear of the things u add,it surprises me you havent tried adding a simple stimulant.
As you probuably know from here,i failed on nardil,very dissapointed,but i did,all i got was anxiety reliaf,which was nice,anxiety was gone.
However i workout and for the first time in my ENTIRE life i had people telling me im getting fat,this was alien to me,i have trouble putting on weight,i was becomming a fat slob eve with pouding on the weights.
Also my solider took a vaction on me,i could not believe how he just died,nodda it was something.
Most to my dissapointment was i got extreme anxiety reliaf,however i achieved zero anti depression effect and zero pro social effect,i was at 100 plus dose when i finaly stopped it.
Getting past all that,i recently pooped out on parnate,which was my wonder drug at one time.My doc added ritalin to it,and in a few days i was out of the gut wrenching depression i thought i could never ever ger out of.The ritalin in fact is keeping on the ledge of what feels like success i wont be sure until i see my doc tommorrow or the next and get the ok to start rasing me ritalin,i truly hope and believe a higher dose will help me greatly.
Point to all this is,there are documented articles,ones i have from this board i can paste,which show a high success rate of ritalin being added to both nardil and parnate.The article mentions the parnate,nardil//ritalin combo is one of the best choices for treatment resistence.
One thing i can tell u is before the ritalin even touched the depression my sex drive skyrocketed,it is still there,in fact it is at a pre med level,i thought even remember it being this good,Not to be graphic i know there are woman here,but i get peridoc erections through the day,psychoicial stimulation comes easy,sexual desire comes easy,and most important for me FINALY FINALY the ability to orgasim has become very easy.This was the very first thing i noticed when i added the ritlilan around day two.
Wiring down,there is mentioned in the article,and from my exper,NO INTERACTION at all from the combination of ritalin and maoi at least from the starting dose of 10 mg im on.
I know this is a long long pos,but its what is going on with me right now,so it is a topic close to me.So ill askhave u thought about adding a psycho stimulant such as ritalin???

Hey Ace,
Jedi again. Nardil at 90mg with 1mg of clonazepam daily has me recovered to about 75 to 80 percent. Most of the social and generalized anxiety is gone. However, I still have this nagging level of dysthymia that is very hard to break through. My major depressions have all been atypical, so at least I'm not laying in bed in pain all day long.My current goal is to augment the Nardil to relieve the last bit of dysthymia. A mild stimulant such as modafinil or methylphenidate might be the answer as Willyee suggested. I always feel better in the morning after about three cups of coffee. I've also added bupropion SR to Nardil in the past. This helped until I had to change doctors and the new PDOC said it would kill me. It didn't. Another option I've used is 100mg of nortriptyline, with the Nardil added after. This is a fairly well documented option for treatment resistant depression. Certain tricyclics have been shown to reduce the chance of a hypertensive crisis when used with a MAOI. My current plan, if I can convince my MD, is to reduce the Nardil to 60mg daily and up the clonazepam from 1 to 3 mg. There are some studies which show that this may work for stubborn double deppression. By reducing the Nardil dose, I hope to eliminate the delayed ejaculation and the desire to eat all of the carbohydrates in the house and nearby stores.

Just fyi i added wellbutrin too it lasted half a day,yuck.
Dexadrine worked well but the ampthemaine effect was appearnet,the high,the crash,i felt like i was on a speed drug.So although there was no interaction,it was nasty.
Caffine and ritalin seem to work best,im still at a stupour to the degree ritalin is ehnacning my sex drive.Hopefully i can get this weight under control that nardil put on me in a flash of a second.

I hate to tell you this, but what you're doing is chasing hypomania. Some doctors would call this drug abuse. I wouldn't, as I know that you're just trying to live in the best state of mind possible--and we all deserve that.
More and more MAOI is not the answer, though. If you inhibit MAO-A toom uch, DA synthesis can fall and you will sabatoge the AD effect. In fact, I think this may in part be what's happening here. More likely, it is just tachyphylaxis (I LOVE THAT WORD) to the euphoric effect of Nardil.
Unlike most ADs, MAOIs can get you good and high for a few days.
I recommend you look into memantine + Nardil.
