My doctor upped my Seroquel to 300mgs and kept my Wellbutrin at 150mgs. Now I'm having terrible anxiety and panic feelings, so I've got to cut something.

Hi Tom,
The feeling of anxiety occured when you increased your Seroquel? Did you make any other changes at the same time?
Do you feel physically restless?

No, I didn't make any other changes. I feel a wierd drowsy drunk feeling and my eyes are half shut and my vision is blurry. I feel really disoriented and it is mainly just panicky anxiety and fear not really restlesness. My tongue feels like someone is pushing down on it. I just took 3mgs Ativan and I think its starting to kick in.

Hi Tom,
What dose of Seroquel were you on before you increased to 300mg? It sounds like you need to increase much more gradually.

Probably a very mild dystonia.

I was on 100mgs per day of Seroquel before he raised it. Now at the 300mgs I can' t go to sleep, but right on the verge of going I jump up out of bed with a panic and fear. It goes right away, but it happens over and over so I have been taking Ambien and it is effective.And today I woke up and took my meds instead of before bed, and about an hour or so after I got really terrible anxiety that would come in waves. It was sort of be like a mini panic attack that would last only like 5 minutes. Like I said I had this really groogy feeling and my eyes were half closed, and my vision was blurry. I have taken 3mgs of Ativan and it kick the volume down so to say, but I've slept all day. I am going to drop one of the medicines and just wanted to know now you are supposed to taper a medicine that is time released like the Wellbutrin. I'm also going to drop the Seroquel down to 100mgs wait a week and raise it to 150mgs wait a week and then raise to 200mgs and wait a week before I go back to 300mgs. I just wanted to know mainly can I cut out the Wellbutrin without a taper?

I did it (150mg) with no problems. I was also taking Cymbalta at the time. The patient info you get with it says to consult your doctor before stopping it, but I felt it was doing nothing for me and did not taper.

I don't think you need to stop Wellbutrin. Just decrease your Seroquel dose to 150mg/day.

I just stopped it again to try Cymbalta after 2 weeks and had a bit of irritability and anxiety, so bad I didn't sleep at all the evening after I stopped. I guess the difference last time was that I started something else the day after, this time I didn't and was taking nothing else. My doc wanted me to wait a few days to start the Cymbalta so I didn't get start up sides mixed with withdrawal.
So, although not as bad as some SSRI's/Effexor, Wellbutrin XL did cause me a little misery. I could definitely tell I was withdrawing some.

I've stopped my Welbutrin (300 mg) 3 or 4 times this year because I didn't have the money for it. I didn't have any problems that I was aware of. Of course, everyone is different, you should clear it with your doctor.
