Hi,
I'm thinking of trying the above combination if the seroxat fails to work after I've come off Nardil.
Just wondering if anybody else on this board has any experience of this combination and if so can you let me know how you got on with it?
I know one person has tried it without much success but was wondering if there were any other people on here who had tried it.
Thanks in Advance......Denise

Years ago I tried adding low dose moclobemide to my ongoing prozac. I was actually fairly ok before adding the moclobemide, but then it sent me into a fast deep depression. I can't say I gave it a good trial, because I had to bail out after 3 days. The depression it caused was just too much for me to handle. And besides, every drug I've ever tried that worked well did not make me feel worse in the beginning.
We all respond so individually, I don't think there is any way to know in advance how it would work with you. I would suggest if you do try it, keep doses extremely low to begin with so that you can catch any adverse events early.

Are you bipolar? What are the major symptoms of your depression?
I was never so hideously and painfully depressed as I was when I tried taking moclobemide as monotherapy. I am bipolar. I spent days laying on the couch, curled up in the fetal position and wimpering in pain. Several others have described similar types of reactions to moclobemide.
That being said, there are people with mild depression who do well on moclobemide. It usually acts very quickly, often within the first week. When successful, it is energizing and can promote clearer thinking. This occurs at relatively low dosages of 300mg. Unfortunately, for people with more severe depression, these improvements are transient and require continued dosage escalation to try to maintain. Dosages up to 1200mg have been used. My guess is that it is no longer used very often because it is relatively inneffective. Of course, for some it is a miracle drug. I don't know of any symptom clusters that are predictive of improvement or exacerbation.

I tried Moclobemide
Alone it did absolutely nothing for me, no side effects, no positive effectsI combined Moc with low dose Celexa (I think it was 10mgs) for a day or two, without having any major problems
It felt very Serotogenic though, so watch out for Serotonin syndromeI combined Moc with 20mgs of Fluoxetine and had one of the worst experiences of my life, a disasociative panic attack! I've never had any panic attacks before or since
Combining Moc with Effexor also made me very anxiousI think it deppends what SSRI you combine Moc with, start low go slow, its probably worth a try
Sorry for bad spelling, I am dyslexic

I tried Moc 150 with Fluvoxamine 50 with no ill effects, but no benefit either.
I tried Fluoxetine 20 and Moc 150. I had restless legs while asleep.I tried Citalopram 20 and Moc 150 and had bad serotonergic effects from first dose.
I tried Moc alone up to 450 and was useless.

Thanks to you all for your responses, doesn't sound like it has done much good for anyone but I might give it a try.
If it feels anything like this Nardil, which was horrendous last week (before I took a Zyprexa) then I reckon it will make me feel worse so I'll start very low.
Kind Regards....Denise
