ECT? Need advice in NH - badly

Posted by Enigma on August 16, 2005, at 11:31:45

Well, I'm looking into ECT for severe depression.
Years (about 4-5) of MANY different drugs have yielded no effect.

To make a long story short, I blew up at my current "doctor" (if you want to call him that), and that ends that. I did have a good reason. ;)

Now I'm looking for a new p-doc in the Manchester NH area. I'm also looking for a place to get an ECT consultation AND a hospital in the area, that performs ECT.

Last I heard, Dr. xxx at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH didn't think ECT was a good idea from me. I only heard this 2nd hand. Now I have to wait till he is back on vacation to find out why.

My problem? I'm on LTD. My company will re-fill my position in approx 4 more weeks. SO, I wanted to get/try ECT BEFORE that time is up. Now I think I can kiss my job/life goodbye. It's all thanks to my current (ex) doctor for waiting a whole week to call Catholic Med. Cnt. for me. Something which would have taken him 10 mins to do, WHEN I asked him.

Very upset in NH,

Enigma

Have you tried MAOI's? My sister was completely resistant to meds until she tried MAOI's. Hang in there,

Here's a list of psychiatric hospitals in NH:

I couldn't find a list of hospitals that perform ECT, but that list is short enough so that you can just call them.

Many general hospitals perform ECT, also.

That's for the information! I think I found 2, but there's a bunch of red tape to go through, especially as I'm between doctors.
