2 Days ago a neighbor told us that she had to go visit her thirtysomething son out of state. He was having a complete psychotic breakdown. He has no previous history of M.I. and was here last year helping her get organized for the onset of some serious storms. A very smart guy and all together.
So what is going on? He is talking like a cowboy has delusions and hallucinations etc. My opinion true psychosis onset of a major M.I. first episode. Of course only time will tell but one of his doctors said he was taking prednizone for back pain and quit taking it 3 weeks ago. The Dr. attributes his psychosis to this? Well anyway he responded to an anti-psychotic med. and I don't know which one yet but at least he is doing better. All the reading I have done has found maybe 2 or 3 cases where "Taking Prednizone" is believed to have caused psychosis. I found no cases where discontinuing it would causes psychosis 3 weeks later.
If you have or can find more info, please post it!
