I never paid much attention before, but i just noticed most of your meds have average half lives around say six hours,12 hours and so on etc.
Then you come upon parnate and it mentions its half is approx 4 hours, you also have a site or so claiming 2 .
So averaging it out to 3hrs,or even giving it its 4 hour half life,is this not an EXTREMLY short time period for it to be active in ur system per medication standards?
I imagine such a short half life would make a med much harder to be therputic as it would take multiple periodic dosing to keep a adequate amount in u.
Also id imagine split dosing would be more effective than higher singled dosing since ur keep it alive more.
Am i correct on this? Can its shorter half be a factor in it not working too well.
I am scared to try depakote, took one pill and had a fit tonight.Im gonna try to get stablized on the parnate by adding the xanax XR since xanax is a med i know how i react to.God im in a bad place right now.

MAO inhibitors are some of the only meds where a short half life is not necessarily a problem. The MAO inhibition produced my these drugs lasts longer than the drug stays in the system. This is why you need to wait so long for a washout to an SSRI.
Ie. it can take two weeks before the MAO enzyme begins to work at full actitivty again after it has been inhibited.
Now parnate may be a slightly different story since it has stimulant properties too. These properties would only last as long as the life of the drug. So there might be a crash inbetween doses from the stimulant effect.

Makes sense,i guess the stimulant chrash is similiar to amhpetamine chrash, and i guess should not be the main therptuic action seeked from the med.
I tried stimulants in hopes thats all i needed, parnates stimulant effect, one which i rarly get anymore always seemed much cleaner.I can tolerate and seek it,where as i can hardly tolerate any ACTUAL stimulants. All this is enough to drive a mad person totaly insane!

The thing about parnate is that it packs a POWERFUL dopaminergic punch. It is a strong MAO-B inhibitor too. So the stimulant aspect of the drug causes a increased release of dopamine, and since MAO-B is wiped out that dopamine doesn't get eaten up by MAO-B.
Net effect is more dopamine in the synapse for much longer.
