I've been doing really well mentally the past month and a half.
Then this week, I have been sick {physically) with a fever and sore throat. I have noticed I have felt depression, anxiety, and just a general "weirdness" again.Could it just be the fever?
Or does physical illness trigger something to make you almost relapse mentally?
Anyone else notice this problem?

Sometimes I notice that a physical sickenss can bring to the surface a mental issue, but that It rarely creates them. Also I notice that sometimes physicaly and mental recovery coincide.

Last week I was pretty despondent, miserable, feeling hugely fat, repulsive, etc. I was crying, spinning around trying to escape my misery, etc.
The past two days I've felt OK.
Takes me a while to add up the variables: my period just ended... Guess maybe I am ovulating, or at least getting the hormones involved. That would be a good thing.
If it's affected me this way in the past, it's long ago and I don't remember. Sure, I always feel cruddy, and got cramps to write home about until I started taking magnesium to balance the calcium, but never that sort of depression going along with it.
Sickness, though -- always. Even my husband has figured out that being sick sends me into despair even when I'm adequately medicated and life is going well.

Yeah, bad cytokines, eicosanoids etc.
I remember having a bad flu and feeling so suicidal at the same time.
When I took an aspirin it helped the symptoms of both! Crazy eh?

>Doesn't sound crazy to me. My former doc leaned toward believing that all depression is caused by viruses (in those genetically predisposed).
I've posted that Pepto Bismol has helped my acute depression a number of times.
This is the end of the thread.
