Rather be happy and anorgasmic, I guess

Posted by TrishP on July 28, 2005, at 7:19:27

I just can't kick the Effexor habit. I tapered down to 37.5 and the anxiety came back. I was also taking Wellbutrin 150XL, but I was just too depressed and anxious without the Effexor. I tried Buspar (made my heart race), tried Klonopin (made me/kept me depressed). 300mg of Wellbutrin put me to sleep.

After being miserable for a week, I just can't hack it anymore.

Now I am back to 75mg of Effexor and I look forward to being happy and anxiety free again. I am also re-trying the Wellbutrin SR 200 to see if it would help a little bit in the sex department.

I like sex, but I can't take being depressed and anxious.

I'm back to Effexor - until they come out with something similar that won't have sexual side effects.

Actually, I'm not sure they ever will be able to make us happy and able to enjoy sex! What's wrong with these drug companies. We shouldn't have to choose one of the other.

I agree 100% with you.
It seems its one or the other. I have come to the conclusion that i may have to take meds forever. And its sad that I have no sex drive and have only been married for a year. My husband doesnt understand how a medication can cause this, so he thinks its him.
Its ridiculous!!

Have you tried Periactin for anorgasmia? (nm) » TrishP

I had the same experience as Maximus - the higher the dosage of Effexor, the easier it was to become aroused and reach orgasm. I was up to 225mg, but came down to 150mg now and don't have anorgasmia. Too bad I just left my husband! Anyway, the longer I take Effexor the less trouble I have in the climax dept.

Good luck!

Colleen

Just anorgasmic? Or it kills all desire as well?
