Mean and bitchy...

Posted by TrishP on July 25, 2005, at 7:11:13

I have tapered down from 75mg of Effexor to 37.5 - so far so good.

I have doubled my Wellbutrin from 150XL back to 300XL (because my doc keeps pushing me). But the 300XL makes me extremely fatigued, emotionally numb and combined with my pms this weekend, really mean and bitchy (maybe due to lack of Effexor).

I just can't take 300mg of Wellbutrin, no matter how hard I try.

Is there anything I can combine with Wellbutrin to help with PMS? During the rest of the month I use Klonopin as needed for any anxiety. My pdoc says Risperdal for the PMS. The possible side effect of the permanent facial tics and all scare me.

Hey Trish
You're not taking Wellbutrin just for PMS are you? Forgive the 'just', but if it is for PMS alone I wouldn't be doing it. Not with Wellbutrin anyway, doesn't sound nice enough. You've got anxiety anyway? Of course some people seem to like W, but I wouldn't like my chances.

Wellbutrin made me mean and bitchy. When I got off that, and started Zoloft along with Topomax, things really started to turn. I take .75mg of Klonopin at night for RLS, and everything seems to fit together like a puzzle.-L

Right now I think that Wellbutrin has been the most helpful for me (I have NO ties to pharmaceutical companies in any way; lol I saw some posts about that and I've mentioned my fondness for wellbutrin before so I'm just covering my bases) but I do know that when my wellbutrin dose is too high, I get agitated and bitchy and irritated and it can interfere with that deep (REM?) sleep so I get fatigued. I'm fairly fond of Klonopin (other than the memory stuff) and Trileptal, which are the other two meds I take, so I'm starting to toy with the idea of trying effexor or something else....rambling....but ya, maybe try lowering the dose of Wellbutrin continuously and see if you find a sweet spot. People don't always respond the way the recommendations say they should. I do better on low doses. I wish I wish I wish they made little 10 mg or 5 mg pills of meds so you could get a more exact dose (when you can't cut the pill). Sometimes I think since the SSRI's make me fat, I might as well eat a cake to get that serotonin up and enjoy it without the side effects! Anyway, hope some of my rambling helped, and if not, sorry for wasting your time lol. Wish you luck with the med trials.
