What do you mean? Contraindicated with what?

Lithium is used widely as an augmentative adgent in OCD and depressive disorders to boost 5HT levels. But pdocs these days are naive and foolish. EVERY thing is serotonin, serotonin, seotonin, etc

Rubbish!!! I disagree with the 5HT hypothesis. Other neurotransmitters, depending on the individual, are just as pertinent.

I've had serotonin up to the eyeballs and it made me depressed. I heard a young pdoc mention "strictly a serotonergic depression" as if serotonin was the bona-fide genisis of depression. I thought "how naive are you? Can't you see beyond you training"

MAOI's are the best. Anafranil is great for OCD and so are atypicals in a lot of folk with EXTREME OCD like myself...

Take care bro!@

But isn't the inositide system implicated in OCD. I know SSRI's enhanced inositiol mediated signalling wherease lithium decreases it.

I will look for the article, but it basically said lithium was bad news for OCD.

Although Li has been used in an attempt to 'augment' SSRIs for OCD, it doesn't appear to work :-(
