Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had heard any more news about Nemifitide or should I try ringing the drug company to find out the latest on it.
It looked like such a promising drug.

The company had to stop human trials (phase III) and go back and do more phase II trials.
Sigh. I really need a medication that will bypass my stomach. Looks like it will be years until this one is out.

Ravenstorm,
Thanks, think I'll ring the company up again anyway.
When I spoke to them late last year (I think), the guy on the phone said that the would be conducting human trials again later on this year.

Could you please pass on that contact information! I really want to get in a trial for this drug, provided it does not have withdrawal effects that will leave me worse off than before I started (which is what happens to me with SSRIS etc). I read on the website that the series of subcutaneous "injections/implants" is suppossed to last 4 to 6 months. Do you think they let you leave them in that long. I'd hate to respond well for four to six weeks and then be kicked out the door!
Any information you can pass along would be so appreciated!

Hi Ravenstorm.
Well here is the latest on Nemifitide.
I just rang Innapharma and spoke to a really nice friendly man called John.
Not sure if you know the background to this drug (and I don't know much about it myself) but they apparently had to stop human trials as they found out it was toxic to beagles.
Well my friend John :-) advised me that they've now just completed trials on Monkeys, everything went ok, i.e not toxic to monkeys and they believe that the toxic affect was species specific, i.e only specific to beagles. :-) I can't believe I'm writing this.
He tells me they will know for sure in about 30 days after which they'll apply for the FDA to take the drug off "Hold" so they can continue testing on humans. It will take about another Month he reckons to get the FDA to remove the hold.
So we are probably looking at later this year for human trials to start. He told me that they will definately be conducting trials in the States but couldn't say for sure where in the States and might also be conducting trials in countries outside of the States.
Hope this helps. I'll let you know if and when I find out more.
