i've been having brief low-level mixed episodes mixed with physical panicky symptoms like nausea. it seems to date back to right when i started taking minocycline, an antibiotic, for my acne. i've taken it before and hadn't noticed a problem, but i was a lot sicker then so maybe it just wasn't as noticeable. anyway, i know antibiotics can interact with lithium and wondered if maybe it had the same effect on lamictal. anyone else ever had any mood swings from antibiotics? i'm on lamictal, geodon, wellbutrin, and effexor.

I don't know if it's that the antibiotics affected your meds or if it was just simply the antibiotics killing of good bacteria in your gut. When that happens, it can really throw you off whack.
I got very sick in December and spent 10 days on antibiotics. The first round didn't knock out my infection so they put me on a Z pack ( i think that was a 5 day thing). Anyway, I stayed sooo sick off and on after that.
I saw an infectious disease doctor in April ( becuase I tested positive for Epstein Barr) and he told me that antibiotics can really wreack havoc on your whole system. He told me not to ever take them again for something like a "sinus infection." He was totally opposed to them unless 100% necessary.
He encouraged me to eat REAL yogurt (no sugar with active cultures). I started eating 2 bowls a day and I think that was one part of the puzzle piece of me getting better (physically and mentally).
I pour flax seed on my yogurt and eat it like that.
It's important to have that good bacteria in your system- antibiotics kill that stuff so maybe try some yogurt for a few months. See if you feel better.
