Just wondering if anybody had side effects from klonopin? I have been taking ativan for years, and I really don't notice if it helps anymore, as I have gotten so use to it. I take a mg. in the a.m. and a mg. in the afternoon. They are talking of switching me to klonopin as it has a longer "life"..... but am very nervous switching meds. They wanted to put me on effexor also, but after reading some of the effects and withdrawals, I am saying NO to that one. Glad to hear any opinions. thanx

I've been on both. Ativan would mellow me a little but often not enough. Klonopin would practically knock me out. I also experienced very bad nightmares on Klonopin, had hallucinations and felt paranoid.

Speaking of Ativan......for about a month i would not shut up about it.
Well hear i go, I was on Lorazepam 6 mg daily (2mg X3) but it did not treat panic, its very wierd it takes the edge off, but not the craziness. I just switched to Klonopin 4 mg about Week and half ago...... Clonazpam is good for panic, i do calm down, and dont have the 'grinding' sensation that im going insane.
Klonopin does have disatvantages...... it makes me feel lousy, lethargic and mental slob. Ativan does mellow your nerve, its good for Presentations, Long AirLine flights, and maybe working in a stressful place but that usally was at 2mg.
I dont work very well on Klonopin, Ativan i worked fine, no mental slowing, well some... but not all that much.
Clonazepam relieves more mental distress than Lorazepam, it seems to directly slow distress. Ativan really doesnt, your calm.... but your still a mental nervous wreck.
Well thats my input. I hope it is helpful.
Take Care
Matt

did not like ativan for panic. like xanax better for that. like klonopin for agitation and general anxiety. ativan didn't do it for me- wasn't specifically strong enough in that area.

I've been on both at what were supposedly equipotent doses. I found Klonopin better for my anxiety. But, in terms of side effects, I think it might be slightly depressiongenic. (Although I did get irritated more easily on Ativan.) There might also be some reduction in sexual function on the Klonopin, but this is really only evident when I combine the K with other drugs.
Good luck,
