I hope there are. Someone said I should ask. It seems like my chemistry has changed since I became postmenopausal. Where I couldn't take AD's before now I seem to have the tolerance of a horse and don't even have side effects to them. Not that i've ever taken large doses of them. Except luvox up to 250mg. Then the menopause thing started and I couldn't tolerate anything. I think I managed to get up to l2.5mg of luvox and 7.5mg of paxil with xanax. This used to calm me like a baby. Then xanax started to make me tired. No anxiety relief. Tried cymbalta at 60mg last fall and nothing except all aches and pains went away. As a matter of fact I didn't know I had them until I went off the med. And I went back on valium and looked for that relaxing feeling. No luck. So now I see the pdoc tomorrow and don't know what to ask for. Any suggestions? Thanks Phillipa

Phillipa,
I am almost [there]. Back in 93 I was taking 4-5 different meds after a long and disabling depression.I could still go to work, house, kids etc. Thru the years I would be try different ADS and not be tired just didn't like other side effects, would quit after a few months.[they didn't work anyway]Last July when I was getting desperate about missing work for 3-4 days every 6 weeks a doctor told me i was cycling. To make this short I can not tolerate meds either now.I had great hopes in lamictal[only good thing is I haven't missed work in 3 months which is a first in 20 odd years.no cycling. But 200 made me more depressed, actually would come home from work and cry every day. When I would get home from 12 hrs I was exhausted and couldn't do anything else also. I could always do dinner clean up etc without meds. I just can't work and go to bed, doctor told me this is how "normal" people are that I should be sleeping 7-8 hrs. I told him I don't have time for that much and he gave me provigil till i see him.I went down to 50mgs [lam.]and am still tired its like it changed my brain.
Have about given up with meds.I just don't want to sleep around the clock every 6 weeks for 3-4 days, also get real nauseated and can't eat or drink. All I want to do is cure that problem,I can deal with my anxiety little sleep etc better than i can deal with being tired,I like only needing a little sleep. My appoint. is today also. I have not been reading here much cuz I am more depressed lately and think I will go back to no meds. Woke up panicky wondering what to do and what to ask for also.I got off point but yea I think something changes with hormones.I just am not that educated in all that stuff. It also seems when one goes back to taking something the meds don't work the same? Sorry for rambling, sat down here when I first got up not awake yet . Gotta get that caffeine and pop my wake up pill! UCH. MY VERY BEST TO YOU.Let us know how you made out.

I was thrown into menopause in July 2000 when I had to have an emergency hysterectomy. I haven't been the same since...I've had depression, wild mood swings, insomnia, NO sex drive, you name it. I can't seem to find ANY relief. I've tried nearly every med on the market and every form of HRT. I don't think I'll ever be the same, so sad.
I feel your pain and I sympathize. God Bless.
