Has anyone found that they can't get drunk on lamictal, however much they drink. I went on a stag weekend and I was constantly drinking from 11am to 3pm and apart from the hangovers I didn't really feel it, and it was intense drinking with everyone egging each other on, I didin't really want to but my best mate was the stag.normallt I would feel drunk after just 2 pints and it would gradually intensify from there, so I am not a big drinkler who can usually handle the drink, but I just didn't really feel it until the morning, but that was more to lack off sleep I jsut felt rough. Usually my meds make me a lightweight but everyone was getting drunk around me and having a great time but I just couldn't get into it.
Has anyone expwereinced this?

Yes...I was able to drink martini's like they were water. And then I felt like an alcoholic because i would need to drink so much to get a buzz it was ridiculus.

Sorry I meant 11am to 3am the next day, instead of 11am to 3pm.

I feel the opposite effect. One drink, and I start to get loaded. I have an alcohol problem, so that just exaggerated it.

Hehehehehe... funny you should mention that... it's nice when someone else acknowledges some of the less talked about mysterious side effects of medications that you too have experienced. Lamictal also prevents me from getting stoned. I mean, when I used to smoke pot, not that I was a stoner, but I'm the kind of person that HAS to test out everything to find out more about meds, I would get twisted/manic/debilitated. Now I just get kinda high, but almost entirely functional.
I'm guessing it's the sodium channel blocking/other anti-manic/mood-stabilizing properties of Lamotrigine that effectively puts a cap on your brain's typical surge of pleasure chemicals and other heightened levels of neurotransmitters associated with recreational drug and alcohol usage.
Hey, this drug is meant to stabilize your moods; ie. block the highs = theoretically also prevent the accompanying lows. Guess it works, eh?
