Hi, Does anyone know the difference between Wellbutrin XL and SR? If so can you let me know.
I tried it a few years ago and it made my jaw twitch like a speed freak would twitch. Yes, it is true. I am wondering if a newer version came out since then? Is there a difference between XL and SR?
Also, how does caffiene interact with it? And alcohol? Before when I was on it I kept drinking coffee (4 years ago) and now reflecting I wonder if that contributed to my side effects.

I think the XL is longer acting than the SR. I have only taken the regular and the SR versions. But I CAN tell you this, caffeine will send you up the wall mixed with Wellbutrin! I think I only drank 1 cup or less a day. Tea wasn't as big a problem. I had the same problems with decongestants.

Yes. SR is usually taken twice a day and XL only once. (However, I'm augmenting Cymbalta with Wellbutrin SR for appetite control and motivation. I'm just taking 200mg in the morning.)
I agree about the caffeine... I've had to quit it since I started Wellbutrin. Not that I was a big drinker before, but even one cup messes with me now.

I was taking Wellbutrin SR, but the last time I went to the doc he accidentally made out the precription for XL. I thought what the hell, I'll just go ahead and try the XL. It's been three weeks I haven't noticed any difference. Maybe its a little smoother, but I'm not sure. One definite difference is the higher price of the XL, since it doesnt come in generic form. I drink a 16 oz. cup of mexican organic coffee most mornings. More than that and I get a little wired. I've drank beer on it as well, no obvious ill effects but I'm sure doing both puts more stress on the liver...I take a variety of vitimins to help counteract.best ~ J
