Sorry for the misspelling, but i saw a poster ad in my pdoc's office for it. My pdoc is in his late 60's. The ad looked from 80's, late 80's.
I know its some sort of anxiety med.
I take 1mg of Ativan currently. up to 3 times daily. With Zoloft 100mg
does anyone know?

It's a benzo and it's generic name is Chlorazepate. I don't think it's available in the U.S.

It used to be not too many years ago. I was given it in the hospital at a very low dose. I think it's supposed to be like a longacting valium if that makes any sense since valium has a long half-life.Fondly, Phillipa

AFAIK, Tranxene and Tranxene SD are still available in the US. See http://www.rxlist.com

An older benzo with prominent anticonvulsant properties
Clorazepate dipotassium (generic). It turns into desmethyldiazepam upon gastrointestinal absorbtion. Desmethyldiazepam has the longest half-life of any benzo available in the US and itself is the major metabolite of diazepam (Valium).

Tranxene is an awesome benzo with a really long half life. I use to take it but built tolerance to it, and now take klonopin. It is still available in the US.

I took this years ago for anxiety/panic disorder but one 3.75mg tablet would make me feel like a zombie. However, my Mom took it several times a day for the same disorder and she did well on it.

Geez, That was the dose they gave me in the hospital to take the place of lmg of ativan. I was a nervous wreck! I switched back to the ativan. I guess my tolerance was high even then. Fondly, Phillipa

Now I can take Ativan and do just fine on that. Isn't it weird how we each do differently on the same meds? I guess it's just how the stuff reacts with all our different chemicals.

i use to take 15 mgs three times daily---and it totally eliminated my anxiety, but unfortunately tolerance built in and didnt work that great anymore. My p-doc put me on Tranxene SD 22.5 mgs and 2 tablets a night which didnt work so well either.

Hi!
How long did it take before you started to develop tolerance to Tranxene?
