I've taken it for sleep. The usual dose is 7.5mg - 15mg.

Yeah... I take 15mg remeron for sleep... It seems to be working very well for me... Some people say on these forums that it is only sedating when first start taking it, but then i have read that other people take it for several years for sleeping.
I was taking geodon AND seroquel for sleeping...
But i replaced them both with remeron.
I usually get 5-6 hours of sleep with it, it works well for me.But what i don't get is that if it has a half life of 20 - 60 hours, why am i only able to sleep for 5 - 6 hours ? Shoudn't I get atleast a full night's rest with the drug ?

Is 7.5 mg more sedating then the 15 mg ? If so, is it ok to split the 15 mg sol-tabs in half and use them ?

Theoretically some say a higher dose is less sedating becaus other transmitters kick in; however, I found this not to be all that true. For sleep, I would still imagine the lowest is better.
The prescribing information doesn't mention anything about scoring Sol-Tabs... one, I recall they're slightly crumbly like wafer candy, two, since they are meant to rapidly disintegrate, it is possible that you 1) will get a bad taste and 2)it is not clear whether the remeron is evenly distributed throughout the Sol-Tab.
But I dont think its dangerous; at best you'll get 7.5mg, a slightly awful taste mixed with, oh, I forget now, did they use a pleasant orange taste ?
Of course this can all be bypassed by getting generic mirtazamine tablets which are much cheaper, but I dont know if you're taking the Sol-Tabs because you have difficulty swallowing or whether your doctor thinks it will work faster.
Anyhow, my 2c
