Effexor is the first AD that has worked for me (and I have tried many). The problem is that I am extremely tired all the time. I constantly need to lie down. Last night was the worst, I laid on the couch for two hours and felt like I couldn't move a muscle!
I am taking Provigil to counter the sleepyness. Now it does not seem to work. How do you function when you are this tired? What do you do?
On a side note, do you find that you have to urinate much more then you did before taking effexor?

Well, I don't know if I can offer help, but I will strongly agree. I take 225mgXR/day. Because of the short half life, I felt like I was feeling a withdrawal, the dose is divided, 75mg morning, and the bigger dose 150mg at bedtime because of the sedation. I know though that a short time after any dose of it I start getting very tired. It helps me, for the time just after a dose, to be occupied, if not I'll surely take a nap. I hope you find an answer. Good luck.

It's really making me laugh/thing about the fact that we take the same med and our screen names are so similar, and we're writing about sedation.
I know for sure when I went down on the dose, from 300 to 225 I was more 'alert'. I've been on it so long though I'm afraid I really don't appreciate how tired it may in fact be making me. I like to think it's the klonopin, but I guess it's both.

How long have you been taking Effexor? I'm only taking 75mg (with 300 of Welbutrin) and my doc wants me to take more. I can't imagine being any more tired. It's not a "normal" tired either. I don't feel rested after lying down for an hour.
This whole depression thing has been a 20 month nightmare. I tried all the major ADs and Effexor seems to be the only one that works.
P.S. I noticed your name too.

I've been taking effexor for about 2 years, it still works. I don't know how long I'll take it. It's never been a good time to stop. I may have simply adjusted to the tiredness. I'd probably only really appreciate the difference if I went off the meds.
You sound REALLY tired though. What does the doc say about it?

He has me taking Provigil (which is a stimulant). It really doesn't seem to do that much. I've tried other stims and had bad results (anxiety, worse depression). I have to take Ativan to sleep. I think I'm at a really bad place (taking stims during the day to stay awake and sedatives to go to sleep) but he is not that concerned.
