Best antipsychotic to combine with LAMICTAL??

Posted by bipolarspectrum on May 18, 2005, at 20:05:01

Hi,
I am currently on lamictal and zyprexa for bipolar depression. The zyprexa is making me sleep 11 hours a night and experience cognitive problems. Anyone have any recommendations for a better atypical antipsychotic to combine with lamictal?

Abilify doesn't make people as sleepy. Or maybe risperidone.

Did you ever hear anything about the DBS study after your assessment?

Hey. I also have Bipolar Affective Disorder and I found, like most people, Abilify to be the least sedating and also Solian (but that ones not in America I dont think). I couldnt tollerate either of them though.

I use to complain about the 11-14 hours of sleep AP's use to give me, now that I'm off them I miss the sleep because I barely sleep anymore lol.
But I can relate to the cognitive problems in regards to AP use. I think all AP's will do this.

Take care

I read one study where Lamictal added to clozapine resistent schizophrenia was effective especially in reducing positive symptoms.

Based on your screen name and the number of previously tried AP's Clozaril is probably at the bottom of your list, but the combination is supposedly very effective.
