I'm currently at 2400mg daily for social anxiety, in 3 separate doses. I feel like it's helping, but could do more for me. My question is is this the ceiling dose, or do people go higher than 2400?
I also take 1.5mg risperdal (fighting weight gain though), and 30mg dexadrine spansules twice daily for ADHD.

Asked this a couple days ago, no responses...I'm at 800mg of Neurontin 3x daily, just wondering if I could go higher..it seems to be helping my anxiety somewhat but could be helping more. Thanks

My psychiatrist said he has had people on as high as 6400mg.

Yes, I take 3600 of neuronitn--for social anxiety-- in two divided doses, and have been on this dosage for about two years. I have found, however, that it is beginning to lose its effectiveness and I am going to lobby my psych for a higer dose. I also take ativan prn and occasionally ambien (10mg) at night. Thanks.

I couldn't even imagine that dose. I'm struggling now at 600, and working down. I can't think of a better example of how differently people can react to the same drug.
Gabapentin has unusual bioavailability; as the dose increases, absorption percentage decreases, until at 4800 mg/day, uptake is only 27% (compared with 33% at 3600). That means that you get only a slight boost in total uptake from that large dose increase....less than 100 mg of the 1200 mg dose increase. (All figures based on averages from a number of subjects.)
You might get a better efficacy boost by taking it with food. That accounts for a 14% increase in uptake. Or, do both. Increase the dose, and always take it with food.
I'm thinking my dose will end up being in the 300-400 mg/day range.

......or taking it in (more) divided doses. I once read that people on very high doses of gabapentin sometimes take it in up to 6 divided doses per day in order to increase absorption.

Does that low of a dose still relieve your pain?
