I don't know why but reading through this stuff has now scared me to death to stay on Restoril every night.
Is there any concern about Benadryl's long term use as a sleep aide??
I might try to wean myself off this Restoril throughout the next few weeks but I know I will need something else for sleep.
I could always go for Nyquil but am not a big fan of the taste (or alchohol).
Is Benadryl a healthier alternative?

DON'T USE THE NYQUIL - not with all the problems yo have been having.
Benedryl is used on psych wards as a sleep aid. Yes it's safe. My pdoc told me I could use up to 200 mg. Don't start at that. You will build a tolerance. So use the Benedryl while thinking of something else you might try. Aren't you going to try Lunesta?

I built a tolerance very quickly and it gave me morning panic symptoms-like sudden wake up panic episodes
Anyone else?

How about cutting the Restoril in half, and taking benadryl for a week or two.
Or Get trazadone or Neurontin, or Seroquel and use those while you taper?

I use 150 mg Trazodone every night. Your doctor may allow you to try that. It puts you into delta sleep per my psych doctor. I may be wrong. Dr. Bob, Why does it help me sleep?
