unable to discuss/describe how i feel (meds help?)

Posted by iforgotmypassword on April 16, 2005, at 13:34:03

is there any medication that can help with this? ive been seeing people for years and they havent been able to help me at all and i cant tell them how much pain i am in. as soon as someone else is around i become anaesthetized and revert to conersation or small talk that doesnt have anything to do with how i feel. and nothing anyone says or any point of view that i am supposed to somehow adopt can help. it feels as if the only people that would be able to help me are now dead, and my only choice now is to follow them, but i am just as unfortunately safe as i always am.

Plus you never have enough time to talk with them. Mine always sticks to Rxing meds and says to see one of her therapists. I think you should make a list of what's bothering you and how and bring it with you so you don't get off the track. I usually do this. I add to my list between appointments. Fondly, Phillipa

I agree with Phillipa. Try and write out how you have been feeling, how this affects you..a lot of people I think can have a hard time to get the words going when someone is in front of you. Try writing it..just let the words go. Then you can see what you have written, you can either simply give what you wrote to your doctors/therapists, or maybe with time you can even read it out loud.

Even in your post, the way you worded things, told me right away that you are in pain and at a loss....it is a good start.

Though you may be talking about anxiety geting in the way of talking, a med could perhaps help with this anxiety, but I'd give this a try first....getting the words out, whether written or spoken to someone will help you feel less alone.

ive found klonopin and celexa very useful for this. in my case my intense anxiety was preventing me from being fully available and able to open up at therapy. with these meds helping greatly in that regard im making new progress therapy wise.
