Cymbalta + Klonopin + adding Wellbutrin???

Posted by Colleen D. on March 11, 2005, at 12:39:12

Is anyone on this combo. The last week or so I've been depressed again, amotivated and somewhat more anxious after having 2 good months on the Cymbalta and clonazepam. I was thinking of switching back to Effexor from Cymbalta, but my doc wants me to add Wellbutrin instead. I have a couple of cocktails on occasion, maybe 3 drinks on 2 days each month and I'm wondering if it is a definite no-no to do this now. I don't know if adding Wellbutrin will help and the thought of a 3rd med is raising my anxiety level. Argh!

I'm taking that combo with the addition of lamictal. Wellbutrin should help with the amotivation.

When you go out and drink, it affects the efficiency of your meds and sleeping for the next few days. Alcohol is a depressant and each time you drink, you are stacking the cards in favor of your illness. If you can stay away from drinking, it will give your meds the chance to do their magic.

I quite agree that alcohol diminshes the benefits of Effexor (in a very big way) and also Cymbalta.
The Wellbutrin is a good adjunct with Effexor and for me it erased the last dregs of depression and allowed me to get off the sofa! - I was on the combination for about 9 months last year.
