MAOIs, Wellbutrin, stimulants, other dopamine agonists (amantadine, apomorphine, pramipexole, bromocriptine, etc. ...), amisulpride, and I'm sure others that I am not remembering now. Incidentally, getting a dopaminegic effect out of Effexor is not practical.

Incidentally, getting a dopaminegic effect out of Effexor is not practical. I'm not sure what that means? Thanks for answering.

>In the Effexor literature, it says that it is a weak inhibitor of dopamine reuptake, but he is saying that in reality, it is futile to expect much of an effect on dopamine from Effexor. In theory, this might be possible, but you would need an extremely high dosage of Effexor, and it is just not practical.
Some people feel that you can also get a dopaminergic effect from Zoloft if you go high enough in dosage, but it is kind of the same situation as it is with Effexor. You would need to exceed the maximum recommended dosage, and I question how wise or practical this actually would be.

Well, two that I know of (in my experience) are Geodon (only at very low dose) and Lamictal.
First of all, the Geodon, my doctor told me that it acts more like a dopamine agonist at lower dosages (under 40mg). This is most likely because, at those low doses, it preferentially antagonizes dopamine presynaptic autoreceptors thereby enhancing dopaminergic transmission. Unlike Amisulpride, you can get Geodon in the states. I take 10mg Geodon 2xday, and it helps me to be more motivated, pro social, and stuff.
Also, Lamictal, according to some posts on this board, has an indirect dopaminergic effect possibly through NMDA antagonism. It's said to potentiate dopaminergic transmission. I take 200mg of this.
