I started my lex at night and it didn't work for me so now i take it first thing in the morning. I think you should just follow what's good for your body since we're all different. I've been on lex for @ 1 1/2 years and I'm very pleased with it. I was previously on Zoloft which made me totally emotionless. The lexapro has been great with my anxiety and depression although I did recently have a setback but I guess that's bound to happen anyway :-) The only time now that I really have anxiety/ depression is during my menstrual cycle however I know that it's just part of the PMS and I deal with it by taking xanex during my period.
Hope that helps a bit. Best of luck to you. If you need anything feel free to ask. I know this group has really helped me in the past and I always feel comfortable asking anything. :-)

geesh- i took my first pill about 11 this morning, went to the gym and came home. now my head is spinning and i feel tired, but cant sleep. maybe tomorrow i will cut it in half and begin w/ 5mg. the doctor started me on 10mg but no starter pack to wean up on. how long does this craziness typically last??? the doc said the upset stomach (that i might get) lasts 2 weeks, otherwise, little side effects. this is my 2nd AD, the first one being effexor-i know it has to better than that, at least i hope. i am a little nervous.
it is hard to explain to your family too, that you need this pill, even though it is making you so sick at first, ya know.

Jenn:
I just stopped taking Lexapro. I was on it for 8 months at 30-40mg/day. I found it to be effective only in higher doses. In lower doses, it did not seem to do much for me. The 10mg pills made me nauseous for a few days. That went away. I always felt kind of fatigued on Lexpro. However, even when I took it at night, it did not significantly help my sleep. The side-effects for me were minimal, but I guess, overall, so were the benefits. I've heard many others say Lexapro helped them though. I'd give it a try for a month or two and see what happens. Everyone is different.
Much luck,

I've been on Lex for 2 years, for PMDD and depression, with good results. Started at 5mg, which I recommend if you are feeling bad right off. Currently @40mg. It took a long time for me to get results I considered *good*, but it has really helped calm down my depression, anxiety and insomnia. I take it in the morning now, but in the beginning I found it easier to sleep if I took it in the evening

My doc is giving me lexapro to counter the anxiety I get from Adderall. I have taken it for 9 days and dont feel too much difference. I read that Adderall is more for depression than anxiety...wonder if thats true?

Hang in there, the side effects will go away. I had all the ones that you listed and it took at least a month to feel good without all the SE's. The only lingering one I have is I am tired more than I used to be, but it's more of a mental tired than a physical one. I combat it with a couple cups of coffee in the morning and a short afternoon nap if I can squeeze it in. Good luck to you, it should be feeling better soon!
