Well, 3 years of trying SSRI's, and im giving up. Paxil worked awesome for 3 years, then effexor for 2. Must have been a big poop out, and now im just non-responsive, actually they make me worse.
So now talking about switching classes. Which ones have the least side-effects. I understand the tiredness and the dry mouth, how bout sexual? Not as bad as SSRI's?
Which ones have you found successful?
If i'm taking klonopin as well, will i be too tired? Thanks people,
Brian

I take desipramine and am pretty satisfied. I do have some probs w/ SE's like dry mouth and dizziness when I stand up too fast. Sort of a pain, but not enough to make me stop it. We are lowering my dose just a bit. I find it particularly good for my anxiety.
I couldn't tell you about sexual SE's--sadly not a part of my life!
Best,
EE

Had you tried other TCAs or SSRIs for anxiety? I took clomipramine, helped with anxiety (before pooping out)--an antidepressant that i liked. But sexual side effects are supposedly substantial.
The TCAs that act more on norepinephrine (as opposed to serotonin) are supposed to have less sexual SE. The TCAs are spread out on a continuum in terms of serotonin vs norepinephrine action.
I am on desipramine (acts heavily on norepinephrins) and find it helpful. It seems it is getting more helpful by the day.
A little info on some tricyclics--

He has other articles there that give info...this is all just personal experience, not expert advice....
