PDOC charged Ilegal distribution controlled substa

Posted by Phillipa on February 2, 2005, at 20:10:45

I can't believe it! I knew I was making the right choice when I left my old Pdoc, after returning to him. Federal Agents raided his office and seized pt charts and charged him with health care fraud and illegal distribution of controlled substances. He was billing my 2 insurance cos and also billing me! The worst part is he stole 8 years of my life after he earned my trust. He addicted {physically} me to chloral hydrate and xanax and klonopin and always told me to take higher doses which I refused. Now with the new pdoc, she's tapering the doses and doesn't care that I'm having W/D symptoms of twitching, etc. I am glad that someone is finally trying to treat me appropriately but it's painful to go through this. Thanks for listening. Fondly, Phillipa

Sorry to hear he did not help you. I didn't know you could mix Xanax and Klonopin. I have a funny little story. When I started seeing my recent psychiatrist, he said I'm going to see you once a week, and I said to him the insurance won't cover that, they only pay once a week. So he goes don't worry about that. So I would see him every week thinking, damn he's a really nice guy seeing me like this every week and only getting paid once a month. He would see me for only 15 minutes sometimes, one time even 10. I didn't like this but I would say to myself, hey he's doing this for free, he wants to see how I'm doing, it's very nice of him to be doing this as it is. It made me feel like he cared. Then after about a year when my insurance ended and I started getting Medicare instead, one day he goes to me "oh I can only see you once a month now, Medicare only pays once a month". And I was like huh??? All this time I was thinking he was being generous and nice and it turns out he actually managed to bill the insurance company every week AND see me those sessions for ONLY 15 minutes(the nerve). I could not believe it, all I could do was laugh from the situation. I still see him and no longer think he's that nice a guy, he also doesn't want to prescribe sh*t anymore. Suffice it to say I will soon be finding a new psychiatrist. Good luck with your new psychiatrist, you'll need it :)

Damn, I wish you could reedit your posts here. What I said in the third line doesn't make sense, I meant to say "and I said to him the insurance won't cover that, they only pay once a month" :)

Phillipa:

There is a compassionate way to be weaned off klonopin and your new pdoc does not have to be so aggressive at getting you off of it. You shouldn't have to go through twitching etc. No one should.

How do I do this? I'm already "sneaking" in an extra .5mg of xanax during the night. It was my idea to go off the klonopin, because I believe it might be contributing to my depression. All I know is I have absolutely no motivation to do anything, and cling all day to my husband. I have blunted emotions . Fondly, Phillipa

It just blows me away how little trust you can have in doctors these days.

Its all about $$$$ and your doctor isnt a nice guy, he's a p***k.
