does it work? I have been on Cymbalta for two months and having more sleep problems than pre-medication. I have tried restirol and ativan with mixed results. Some have recommended Benadryl but I have heard that it can have the opposite effect and keep you up?

Hi
I have been inpatient on psych wards and benadryl has been used. You can take up to 200 mg for sleep. But it will give you a hung-over feeling in the morning, but you will sleep.

What time of day you take your Cymbalta? I started out taking mine in the a.m., but noticed I got sleepy in the early afternoon, so I started taking it in the late afternoon and I sleep better. Others here on the board take it at night.
As for Benadryl, it makes most people sleepy. What can make you buzzed are decongestants like Pseudofed. The only after-effect I get with Benadryl is feeling a little dry, thirsty in the a.m.

200 mg?! That`s four times the recommended dose. My own experience is that a 50 mg dose will sometimes help me sleep but any more than that has a paradoxical effect and wires me up. Cecilia

For sleep I was told I could take up to 200 mg if necessary. 50 mg is the dosage for allergies.I've never taken 200mg myself....
